In Search of A Blessing!

Jacob [the bible Jacob] knew what it meant to have a blessing from a father and for that reason he told and did all he could with the support of his mother to earn and retain that blessing. Not so long a ago, 4pm of 16.10.10 found me on a mini-bus headed to the other side of the world to find my father who has been partially instrumental in my upbringing [Mum and Dad separated during my early childhood, about 3years]. Keep in prayer everytime you are at it, all the single mothers in this world!

My journey to the land of restoration and recovery was a testing journey that only can be described in mini titles [the call to the blessing, the inspiration to the blessing, the long wait for the blessing, the journey to the blessing, the fears toward the blessing, the encounter with the blessing, the transformation of the blessing, the preparation for the blessing, walking and retaining your blessing and is still more from the blessing]. Hopefully, the next posts will unfold each of these smaller journeys

Consistency and Commitment are two fundamental characters [elements] that are overlooked and neglected by several yet critical once mastered. Before explaining the test of my own consistency and commitment, let me advise everyone that easily identifies themselves with the term World Changer nurtures the habit of making periodic and individual assessment specifically on these attributes.

Am a firm believer of prayer [don't ever forget to use the clause in the name of Jesus as you make those quiet time prayers, Paul reminds us of the power that lies in the name of Jesus. At the Announcing of His NAME every knee shall bow and every tongue confess HE IS LORD]. Once prayer is supplemented by FAITH, the results are incredible. There seasons when am able to pray with ease and profoundly longer than usual. Statistically put, time spent in prayer is indirectly proportion to the prayer answers and time it takes to have the delivery made. The big question is why can't Dennis [We] be consistent in manner of prayer, why is this season and practice so short lived? You are not alone in this occurrence of events, sometimes God empties us to fill us up.

Almost 2 Years ago, blogging was introduced to my world. Knowing very well how mighty power hidden in blogging then, my consistent, passionate and commitment were burning hot to even melt down any Iceblock bigger than one that brought down the titanic. My blogging inconsistency has been tested [and tasted] overtime and the results have been are evident [See Archives]. On a rather good note, am making a come back into the blogging world/industry. Whatever the hindrances were[travels to remote places, the excuse of being busy, lack of gadgets to blog wherever], am reminded that AM AN OVER-COMER.

Research Approach...
From my professional training (statistical computing), before you make any attempt to design a solution for a problem, it is commendable to make a genuine research about a problem and then you can mechanizes an "informed" solution.

Prior this article, I did make a google search and research on fellow bloggers who might have handled the experience of blogging even amidst a busy schedule and my results as you may notice were quite shallow if not nothing at all. Is there somebody out there to help out with this issue?

October 2009 Resolution...
Am committing to posting at least an article once on a weekly basis, if only I can graciously maintain that pattern then I'll be back again at blogging on a more regular basis. Maybe I could borrow from Jim Rohn's words of wisdom "One discipline always leads to another discipline."

Travel Lessons...
Whilst traveling around Uganda since the year 2009, one highlight is worth mentioning! It is the same spirit, same faith and same baptism, the variations is in colour, height and language. For every journey you do need a guide (of which I have been for so years now), am glad we have the Holy Spirit who guides and guards us.

Amidst a slum around Uganda, Kampala-we came across a sign post which read "Computer School 3rd Floor", am glad there wasn't a grand prize for the person who could identify the 3rd floor but all the same we failed to picture where the floor was-the more reason you need a guide because sometimes the signposts can be misleading. In Life we are signposts, where are you or better stated in which direction are you pointing the many people who look to you as a mentor, friend or even advisor?

Testimonies series...
While meditating on John 4-5, am amazed and challenged by how a testimony of only but one Samaritan woman made many believe that Jesus was the redeemer and restorer of a once torn apart nation thereby becoming Christians. She just packaged well and communicated with simplicity her experience with God and just like that many believed. In April 09, I shared with a friend about my desire to compile testimonies (people's experiences on how God has worked greatly in their lives, maybe through divine healing or providence of money) and post them on this blog, of course he shared it was a great! Am now looking out for people who can share their testimonies with us on blog to see my heart's desire granted. That testimony and evidence of what God is doing in our lives can also be a sign post

Wow,
It has been slightly above 1year now since friends introduced me to the world of blogging. Looking back at the articles and trend of posting on this blog, one can't help but notice that there has been somewhat inconsistency. My nature of work with Compassion International has certainly left me with a debt to pay as far as participating and helping out in my home church's ministry operations. After so much consideration, this year am planning on involving myself with a mission team that will head out to Northern Uganda and help out in whatever way we can victims of the different atrocities that have come as a result of the 22 years old war. I will post more on the strategy and approach will shall take, am sure together we can!

Read God's General (why some succeeded and why some failed). There is alot to learn from in this book. Havent read most of the book but one page makes want to flip and turn to another, join me on this.

Emanating from Animal Kingdom...

Misery and loneliness can easily be read on the face a disastered buffalo though it takes 6 strong Lions to take this buffalo down. Looking around myself and what sorrounds me, I told myself I should learn from my sorrounding be it animals or plants or birds for the fact that God is the creator of all and am sure he took so much time in creating even the minutest protozoa or amoeba you can ever imagine. I took special focus on the Buffalo.

Most Buffaloes would live in a herd with over 100 male and female buffaloes, there is always one dominant male in the one single herd and guess what every buffalo would respects that dominant buffalo. Lesson one: For every individual, we can easily divide his "life" in small segments or sections. These sections or segments of life can be social, economic, emotional or even spiritual. The Big question at this point in relation to dominancy, Is what area of your life is dominant or what area of your life do you give priority to? What you give priority to, determines your daily actions and your walk on earth.

Continuing with the buffalo world, once the dominant male either misbehaves (tries to mate with younger female buffaloes) or is unable to protect the herd he is forced out of the group to a solitary life and place by the upcoming young male buffaloes (You can call this disciplinary). Solitary buffaloes are the most dangerous and miserable though greatest fighters. Lesson Two: How often do we accept our mistakes and actually without making so much noise over the magnitude of punishment given try to learn from our past terrible experiences.

Try to search about animals and birds or even trees, there are lessons embedded under their physical features or even way of life that you could learn lots from.

You Need to Travel Around Uganda...

Been traveling around Uganda with Compassion, which explains what you could call either irregular or abandoned posting. Several experiences have hit me on my adventures in the rural and urban Uganda. I would love to unfold some observations and adventures that made me wonder in awe of God's wisdom and sovereignty and also man's innovativeness.

National Park Experiences...
In September 2008, pacing through Murchison Falls National Park, the Park Guide explained that most of the palm trees are planted by Elephants. "Wow, hold it", was my expressed until he explained the whole process (Elephants go around chewing palms like human beings do walk around chewing gum on streets. Elephants litter the seeds wherever and finally the seeds spring up. Before everybody knows it we have palm trees all the place)

Names of Places...
Am moving around Kasese Streets (South Western Uganda) looking out for hotels, we came across several restaurants and hotels named after great American, Australia and European cities (StarBucks, MacDonalds) but nothing close to Culture, Coffee or foods could be found in these places. What got my ribs really hurting because I couldnt stop laughing was my encounter with Uganda London Bridge (small trench culvert,see photo),call it anything but am thinking it was appropriate name isn't it?

God's Lessons...
With every trip that I embarked on, my first prayer point would be can you please teach me something on this escapade my Lord and King. Need to mention,you have the opportunity of learning lots while travelling. As you travel you will do realise, you have more ample time to think and or rethink through lots of your personal areas of life. God in response, will reveal to you so much about the plans He has install for you. Next time you are traveling, top of your packing list should a pen and book, Remember Habakkuk 2:2-3

Scarcity List....

Lately in Uganda, prices of everything single commodity and service has been hitting the skies. Given an opportunity to compile a list of all that is becoming expensive and now being classified as luxurious no longer a neccessity to many, it would be endless. Top of the list would be TIME, for the last nearly one month and half every activity that has been having a timeline attached to it, every second, minute and hour would cost. This explains the irregular blogging or should I say it has been a blessing in disguise! I should be able to post some experiences that I had over the last months.

Creative Bible Study Approaches

Personal Resolution...
Until mid this month, my resolution in the area of digging into the wonderful mysteries of the word of God was learning from Literature written on specific topics say Faith. My personal perspective of approaching bible learning through Books is it gives you more insights on particular themes and this bible study educative and interesting.

Aramaic, Hebrew & Greek...
In my youth years, honestly I would find some books of the bible like parts of the Chronicles boring, it would be a struggle completing them. Well, I love my the word of God and I couldnt just let the most important part of my world become boring, I improvised and devised ways of making bible learning enjoyable.

It started with buying different versions of the bible then I made sure everywhere I went I had a bible on my laptop, on my Ipod and on my phone. That way I have somewhat a place to run to incase I need to make any references. I have thought of reading books of the law only for a month, prophetic books... I have came up with all bible study approaches to make the walk and the run with the King of Kings memorable. So whats yours?

Christian Religious Education in Schools...
In the old,we only got to know that Joseph was the earthly Father of Jesus and Virgin Mary the Mother because Primary and Secondary Schools provided room for Children to learn about Religion although more light would be shade every time our parents dragged us to Sunday School surprisingly we would enjoy Sunday School once we got there. Stories of how small David smote giant Goliath, Joseph the second youngest of Jacob's sons became a "Vice President" in alien country would make your day and we really education. We enjoyed these times and these breath taking wouldn't discriminate, the Muslims too would learn more about Christianity.

It is a tragedy that our government here in Uganda is billing policies and with so much effort discussing the deleting Religious Education off the School Curriculum, shall we be left with anyway of ministering to our children at a tender age?

Invention/Innovation Vs Repulication/Repitition..

First Series of Cellphones In Uganda...

Approximately 10 years back when cellphones flocked the Ugandan community for the very first time, you had to trade one of your valuables to purchase one [US$555]. Maintaining the phone [credit and other assorted services] was also another story, you had to trade your next valuable or you had to work much harder. With this trend only a small percentage of Ugandans could afford cellphones. The Marketing personnel called it a new Innovation in the country, was it actually?

By definition, Innovation possibly means both radical and incremental changes in thinking, in things, in processes or in services. Invention which is normally confused with Innovation. Invention gets out in to the world is innovation, if anything Invention is a new form, composition of matter, device or process. I have fallen victim of purchasing fake products and lousy services because of somebody using an enticing and misappropriated word.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-11...

That which has been is what will be,That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “ See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us. There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come by those who will come after.

The "new" invented products and services we do spend most of our savings on or actually take mortagages for, are they actually new invention or innovations or they are republication of what happened in the old..

Smart Leaders

I have been digging into the secrets behind good leadership and my digging escapades have got my shelf covered with Books that atleast have the word Leader in their Title. In depth length and in a more persuading manner am convinced beyond doubt we are all leaders wherever we are not neccessarily because there are numerous people we lead but because "exert" influence in one way or the other. What then makes you a smart leader? It is definite that most peole will follow good and smart leader because they can be trusted and for anything the follower has confidence the leader has answers.

Exercise intergrity [truthfulness and honesty], Demonstrate understanding when dealing with otherm this makes you approachable, Practice good management skills - excellent planning, coordination, & good communication, Act or Behave responsibly. Good leaders are always learning and making effort to improve leadership Skills. There are several aspects that need sharpening in each individual to acquire a mature level of leadership, intergrity is primary in all.

Television Vs Radio...
Am turning on TV and 60% of the Channels are featuring Sports games which range from Soccer [apparently it seems to be every Ugandan's favourite], baseball to Wrestling. After bargaining with my ownself, I resort to turning on the Radio and well well, the story isnt any different. Was it just a wrong hour or something?

When Will it Be?...
Am looking forward to that day when all Channels both on Radio and Television will be featuring Christians telling this world about God's grace towards them, convincing multitudes that God Loves them abundantly more than they can ever think of or imagine. More so, a wish for that day when all these channels will broadcast or air to the world telling viewers and listeners of the children who are lying some where in Asia, Africa or South America in poverty& sickness, possibly audience could devise means of reaching out to these children.

Radio and Television make great evangelists of this gospel.

Blogging to Mentor..
Not so many weeks ago, we liaised with a fellowship that mentors youth in Local University here in Uganda and well our discussion zeroed on blogging to mentor more youth into responsible adult. Not so long, the fellowship started blogging on the Word of God and they explain how the Word is central in today's daily living. Different members of this fellowship post articles to help youth in this University.

Children's Sunday...
I watched in awe as the children led the adults in the entirety of the 3 services from 7-9am, 9-11am and 11-1pm last Sunday at Church. Angellic sounds echoed in the air as the children led in the praise and worship sessions. As I continued to watch the little ones praise their Creator, my mind quickly transited them into adults. Indeed God has a purpose for all, I imagined what great leaders they are going to be and all. Indeed God has ordained on the mouth of the children Praise.

Surprisingly many of my church mates didn't know it was mothers day on 11th May 2008, mothers alongside their spouses were shocked when the Pastors joined by the children again cheered up in a Happy Mothers Day chorus. To all mothers, happy belated Mother day!

Concerns for Uganda...

Irregular Blogging..
Part of my irregular posting has to do with the role I play with Compassion International for the children, on the road am always in rural places where many donors', sponsors' and staffs' faithful prayers and support reach and transform communities physically. In advance, I will mention this; the next 2 months will be quite busy for me which implies less blogging! Oh how I will miss you all and blogging too...

Uganda Today...
Compassion international a child advocacy organization mission statement states that " In response to the great commission, compassion international exists an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults." This is a focused and strategic direction, how I wish my country desired to move in this same direction.

Currently, in my personal opinion - Uganda is following right in the steps of Zimbabwe looking at the economic status. The prices of commodities, fuels talk about basic needs have all hiked almost to double, school tuition fees are sky rocketing. The other day while I was doing some shopping for my nephews my eyes went wide open at the sight of the price tags. Inflation season I guess!
During my home cell/bible study group last tuesday, [First Tuesdays of the month are always prayer Tuesdays] members suggested that we should pray particularly for children. Almost each of them has heard of an experience where a child was kidnapping in a shopping mall, an with serious cancer, many defilement and rape case. The children are all on attack.
On a graduation ceremony for a prominent theology school around Uganda, the guest of hour mentioned that a policy is being developed to scrab off religious education from the primary and secondary schools' curriculum. A big blow for many children!

Looking back in the past, all these occurrence were distinct. We the righteous can make a difference through reaching out to as many as we can and also making effort to remember as many as we can in our prayers.

Love is Wicked???

Personal mode of Transportation...
So many times on my way to and or from work, I use public vehicles. In Uganda, the public vehicles are uniform in one way or the other, they are 14 seater and have a "T" trademark engraved around the driver's door. This uniformity goes on. These mini buses have loud speakers echo out all varieties of music from all sorts of radio stations. Recently, while comfortably seated in one of the many taxis I have used since the year began and struggling not to listen yet the volume of the speakers at their maximum the song "LOVE IS WICKED" played on and on. I was disturbed by the lyrics of the song but the only consolation I had was the verses that rang in mind over and over again.

LOVE IS WICKED, is this the true meaning of LOVE? I don't think so, Let us not allow the world to redefine beautiful issues for us.

Malaria Campaign...

Well as Compassion International exists as a child advocacy organisation using the Child Development approach, many times there are hindrances to developing. So often, these "bog down" factor accrue from the Community. To reach the main objectives (developing the child), Compassion International has come up with Programs labelled CIVs among which are Malaria Intervention, HIV/AIDS Intervention.

The Art of Balancing...

Live Examples...

Stay away from your family [spouse] & children for some time [no matter the reason], sooner or later you have "family cracks" to repair. Distance yourself or as the King James Version terms yourself "thyself" from friends, sooner or later you have to think of good reasons to explain your distance. Maintain the habit of not fellowshipping with brethren at church and home cells or fellowships, soonest you will see the fruit of inconsistent feeding on the bread and wine from the Lord.

At your workplace, absorb yourself in tasks that don't contribute to your performance grading and well, you know what comes with under performance and low productivity especially when it is audible and visible to all; depending on the formality of one's workplace, it all could start with an abrupt and urgent discussion with your Superior and before you know it you are asked to exit.

Filling up loopholes...

In life, it is inevitable that different activities come our way in addition to what we do on our normal schedules. Some of these escapades have this "calling face" while others speak out in an audible voice giving instructions, you either join in or you join in. There is need to balance in life almost all aspects of life. While we maybe capable and very abled to run about and around to accomplish and meet "deadlines and targets", I would want to believe there is need to balance lest you end up repairing broke family, friendship and fellowship walls.

Biblical Reference...

Though the bible doesnt outstandingly mention the art of balancing in life, figuratively and indirectly the equivalent is scripted. While Jesus was on earth, we evidently see that He spent time with people here on earth among whom were his disciples, the diseased and ill, the lame and crippled, the demon possessed and "psychos". Also is it stipulated that He spends time with "earthly" people, the Author and perfecter of our faith, Jesus would isolate himself to specifically have quality time with His Father in prayer [Mark 1:35]. Many parts of the bible show that he also would set apart time for his disciples and friends.

Could it be a call for you and me to balance affairs of our personal life?

Personal Blogging Evaluation

Economic Monitoring and Evaluation...

While at University, one of the many course units was Monitoring and Evaluation. A number of concepts alongside definitions of what was later abbreviated as M&E, during the sessions I would pick up principles which I later translated into life principles. The challenge later came into transitting the economic concepts

Imagine, the Proffessor giving you history of this and that from 1800 to-date, if one is not careful and attentive you join your coursemates in a napping session during a lecture. Surely, there is a need to monitor and evaluate our affairs, finances, children, projects and your own life. Economically or interms of Project terminology, you need to know whether you progressing in meeting your targets/objectives and the effects desired. Information from M&E escapades helps in decision making, development and future planning has bearing to M&E results.

Maybe it is time to check out how you are progressing on your new year's resolutions!

Events in Uganda...

Approximately a fortnight ago, news headlines had it that; 20 girl pupils in a primary school here in Uganda were killed in a fire that caught up in the school dormitory. While chatting with a friend about Korea affairs, he mentioned that several of the children there are critically ill. Still in Uganda, more than 50 children were defiled in one district, there was a storm in the Eastern Uganda a week back and 2 children died instantly. Many are involved in avoidable accidents!

Humble Request...

I do believe there are many happenings that are affecting the children all over the world. Let us remember the children in our prayers.

Before shutting down the computer to leave office for church fellowship today, colleagues came saying... "We are back on." Wandering and asking myself what they meant, I gave them a puzzled look for awhile until one of them clearly mentioned, "we can surf, our internet connections are back on." Wow...

I can now post my thoughts, meditations, convictions and opinions on more regular basis. I will compile more articles/posts as the week goes by. For now, I leave you with the words of the Psalmist - Psalm 75:1, 6 -7

Preoccupied to Blogg!!!

Last Week...

One after the other, tasks and asssignments to accomplish have been coming in, all for my attention! That pretty much explains why I have been kept away from posting articles for awhile. Among so many achievements, with a team of 6 youth who are doing a great job in Ukraine as compassion advocates we travelled to Western Uganda.

Towards the end of the week, while I was thinking of compiling up a post behold a call to help out set up an outing for the youth at my church came in. Glory to God, all went well at this retreat/outing, youth shared several testimonies on how they have been impacted by the discipleship course (Alpha Course) we have been doing for a couple of weeks.

Past week's Highlight...

My highlight in the time I have been away from blogging was my interaction with one of the children that I visited in one of the Compassion Projects in Uganda. I will share with you my experience with this young man.

Anthony is about 6 years and currently lives with his mother who was divorced from his then husband after a series of domestic abuse. It was in these series of beatings that Anthony was bruised while he was still in the womb. Currently Anthony has a chronic chest and abdominal pain. True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful? Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him...

God is faithful to the end, there is a phrase that goes - He is true to His word and true to His promises. He shows Himself strong even at the point we are ready to give up.

Crime Report...
Filled with grief and with a troubled heart I flipped through pages of different local newspapers the other day, one thing was common among all the articles. Crime rates are on the increase in our country and most affected are the children. Yesterday's local newspaper headline - The New Vision had a release of Crime Report statistics around Kampala and the Entire country Uganda. Details of the crime report indicated defilement, child trafficking and many children are being exploited through Child labour. In the same report, CID published that more than 12,ooo crimes are reported monthly. Today's New Vision had yet another heart breaking headline, a child was more like caned to death. There is a call for us for the cities around the world, join me in this cause.

"Destructive forces are at work in the city, threats and lies never leave its street." Let us interceed for our countries, for our continents and for our children that peace and joy may reign once more amongst us.

Ultimatums in Emails...
My cousin sent me an email yesterday morning with this title subject that would make anyone reading it want to read the email instantly. Count me a victim of this enticing subject title because I indeed opened the email. After glancing through the contents, I was convinced there was a driving force behind it not that am so "spiritual" or something. The contents had some numbers which at a closer look signify something!

Have you received an email or emails in your inbox, junk or spam commanding you to send a message to 6 people in the next 6 minutes and that something you have long desired for shall be given to you in the next 6 days? Do you realise the 6's combined round off to triple 6 [666]. 666 has connotations attached to it and am sure every body knows what 666 represents. Revelations 13 and 14 tells us that 666 is a number that has bearing to the beast-the Devil-who does he has blinded into his dark world.

There are other categories of emails that are backed up by stories which put you in a position of "either forwarding or sending to requested people that email". Many times you are left without an option, you just have to send that email to atleast 69 people less the person you received the email from. Always be vigilant to observe the number of people you are asked to send to that particular email!!! 69 has a connotation attached to it, new flash huh? I have seen several t-shirts with this number engraved on them. I wouldn't recommend selling or purchasing of materials with 69 on.

There are more numbers that meaningful connotations attached to me... say 888 and all. Are we mindful of the numeric world and what these numbers represent...

Lesson from an Artist...

He was a great african reggae or ragga artist, sang so many encouraging and inspiring Songs, however we lost him! In one of his many songs he sang that life is like a ladder, we meet many people who are climbing up and others are "climbing" down. On the same you will meet people who are so eager to help us move to the next steer of the ladder while others may fight very hard and do what they can to see you drop to the lower steers of the ladder.

My Observations...
On my way home a couple of days ago out of curiosity combined with so much eagerness, my eyes kept glancing at the various billboards around the city as the taxi we were seated in found it's way to my home. There was this one advert that made wonder what a person actually perceive and consequently do when they read it!!!

The advert from a local brewery company stands out to the public, call it advising or the equivalent imploring many to do this one thing I would refer to as abominable.

Advert goes... Dont forget someone for the Road as you leave that Bar...Given a chance, I would edit this statement and we would have for a change... Before you leave the home dont forget a Proverb or a Psalm for the day... We dont have as many adverts on billboards asking whoever would read them to either reach out to a child soaked in poverty or even find a church and learn more about God... In my opinion, this is fertile ground in regard to mass media evangelism... How about Billboards with John 3:16... Or John 10:10??!!

Morning Interruptions...
At the time you think of leaving home early morning for work the clouds on the other hand are opening up their reserves and before you know it, a heavy down pour of rain is hitting so hard. Fortunately the rains came in at the time, we needed them most though too much of it gets me alittle cuckoo. Many fellow countrymen are being driven crazy by the regular morning rains here in Uganda. Yesterday, while in a prayer meeting a colleague made a prayer request; He asked all who were in attendance to pray that the rains would reduce [he had a number of reasons to back up this request, very justifiable!!]

He answers all Prayers ...
Am grateful towards God's mercies but to crown it all up and this brings me joy-that God answers all prayers aligned to His will. Apostle John to whom many revelations were told in a divine manner writes saying...

1 John 5:13 - 15
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of Him...

Challenge...
Our patience is tested when the answer is no or not yet, that time is like an metal subjected to fire that it might be easily molded into a finer shape. Better an answer no matter what the answer content than no answer at all!

On Saturday afternoon [29th March 2008] whilst flipping through literature on socio - economic development in Uganda, like I always do, I ran over to check out posts of my favorite bloggers, wonderful people that I refer to as my blog fathers [Shaun Groves, Randy Elrod, Tom Emmons and Brian Seay]... Ugandan News headlines...
As though this Saturday was reading day not relaxing day [as it is normally!], my search for what to read led me to Uganda's daily newspaper articles. From page to page, stories flashed out on how through the Millennium Development Goals strategy some districts in Uganda would soon be blessed with well established water supplies in addition to having the district's community sanitation and hygiene improved rigorously... I was impressed truly! My heart sank as I turned to the following pages, instead more grieving stories than promising stories flashed. I had to close the paper and that marked the end of my search for what to read. Memories and pictures of what I see on the streets and in the communities that visit in different parts of Uganda came one after another.

What surrounds me...
In the northern part of Uganda, a child advocacy organization is persuading a rebel group to release children who are under captivity, these children are used as soldiers in the rebel army; a few weeks back a leader from one of the Afro - Arab countries visited the country and made statements that most Christians weren't appeased about, he was quoted saying "The bible is a forgery and fake in all". Uganda currently is in a rainy season and the roads flood during this season [we don't have winter or summer or spring or autumn] . We only experience the rainy season [an equivalent of winter and spring - March - June & September - November] and dry season [an equivalent of summer and autumn - July - September & December - February].

Trading My Sorrows...
So many events and issues surround me, some hurt and hit me up really bad from the inside but am grateful for church. As though the church ministers know what is goes on in my life, they speak forth joy and peace in your life. In the praise and worship session, one song swept away the pain and sorrow that is brought by what actually surrounds me... I will continue trading the pain for God's peace. Enjoy these lyrics....

Ecclessiates 6:9... New International Version
Better what the eye sees than the roving of the appetite. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Before I got my first laptop which actually broke down a month or two down I "craved and desired" owning one. From several monthly and weekly savings which came at a sacrifice of going without lunch or dinner, I was in possession of an Acer laptop. I thought the laptop would grant me alittle satsification in some area of my life. Like you guessed, having a laptop didnt calm down the "hyper laptop desire" at anypoint.though I wont deny the fact that it has helped me accomplish a number of assignment including my personal bible studies.

Economicists including the greatest and wisest man ever told on the earth Solomon say man has unlimited wants. His wants are like a river flowing on a downhill, they come one after the other... Many of us are in a battle with this "small parasite". Maybe like I have, you have also asked yourself, How then can we tame this unending desire for more?

Phillipians 4:10 - 12... Luke 3:13-15
Paul in his last chapters to the church in Phillip tells of his personal experience in relation to this parasite, he explains the cure and generously shares with the brethen boldly; He says that he has learnt to be content in all. Whether hungry or full, whether with or without, whether in suffering or in Joy, Paul insists that he was content. Jesus likewise in Luke 3:13 - 15 tells the soldiers who then are Tax collectors to be content...

Challenge...
Are you content with what you got or are you on the outlook for more like sometimes am? Am not saying we shouldnt look out to develop ourselves or expand in possession, if anything I highly recommend us to do so. My or our concern is letting the desire and craving ruling over you... Paul in his letter mentions to Timothy that the love [the desire/craving] of money, is the root of all evil... 1 Timothy 6:10

Somebody out there should tell us what it means to be content, or briefly explain to us what the English word Content means...

Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. As a dream comes when there are many cares, so the speech of a fool when there are many words. When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth lead you into sin. And do not protest to the temple messenger, "My vow was a mistake." Why should God be angry at what you say and destroy the work of your hands? Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God...

Sometimes staying still without a murmur from your mouth is just appropriate, more so when it comes to our prayer life... We dont need that silence when we are reflecting on our future projects or the equivalent... Try it!

Purpose Driven Life...
Have you heard of the book Purpose Driven Life? Pose this question to different people and approximately 3 of every 10 people will tell how they have had an experience of it and actually either as a home cell or as a church have done a 40 day study of the key issues that Rick Warren [Author] addresses concerning daily lifestyles.

4 years back as a church [my church is based in a University in Kampala-Uganda] we set apart 40 days of prayerful study, internalizing and seeking God while asking Him individually and a church what our purpose in life is. After this period, everyone could tell that there was impact. Let me call the impact fruit, well the fruit of the study book was enormous, many people were registered into different ministries because they had actually established and found out their purpose in this world.

I recommend this book highly and would love each of us to dive in and flip through the words that Rick Warren divinely wrote... It could be the medicine and answer to the questions that you have at this moment

Purpose Driven Breakfast...
My church is honored to host alongside the Church of Uganda the author of this wonderful book and I truly believe it will be yet another time for the congregants and all those who will attend to answer the most important questions of the life... Rick reminds us that

Reason to Celebrate!

Church on Easter Sunday!
Among the so many assignments that the Lord has appointed me with apart from advocating for children through Compassion International are serving him in my church and ministering to the youth still in the body of Christ [Church]. On 23rd March 2008 [Easter Sunday] worldwide, Christians [surprisingly Muslims too] celebrate in remembrance the resurrection of Jesus... At my church, we were overwhelmed by the turn up!

At 10:50am, some folks with whom I was standing outside church before our 11:oo am service started justified the overflow of people on Easter Sunday with the fact that most people don't go for vacations during the Easter festival season in the sense they're compelled to come to church since anyway it is the only day in a year they come to church apart from Christmas... Inside me I was filled with sorrow and sadness my mind wondering and questioning over and over again why we should show up at Church to celebrate Easter because we cant afford a trip to a fancy place on Easter day... Jesus is Risen! Because He is risen, we celebrate Easter, am filled with total joy and happiness and with this Joy I entered Church. As the preacher shared in our service, Holy Spirit kept on reminding and revealing to me several facts that I have managed to compile and share with us here. To sum it up, there is more to the Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ...

Reason for celebrating the Easter...
On the presumption that we know the story of the birth of Jesus, His ministry in the different cities, His betrayal through a Close Friend and the several Court sessions with Pilate, I will dive in to the point where Mathew mentions that Jesus was spat on, Struck and Mocked- Mathew 26:30... Before I proceed, I want to clarify on one fact... as I enlighten us on the different demarcated section subsequent, note that I labour to emphasize the benefit we attain from each of the phases/routes that our Lord Jesus Christ walked from the point of betrayal to His resurrection...

The beatings and the Spankings: The Gospels tell us a little of what Jesus went through at this point... The details of what happened to Jesus while He was being beaten up are in Isaiah [chapeters 50 - 60] and as the Prophet explicitly explains how deformed our Lord was made through the spanking, he also points out the benefit we the creation of God attain, Isaiah boldly declares that we are healed by His strips... Isaiah 53

Crucifixion: Our Lord Jesus Christ who actually counts His majesty as nothing and undresses His Glory to take on shame on that Cross [Philippians 2]. He is crucified on the cross and there we received a remission of Sin.... Because of this remission of sins [sins that once separated us from God - Isaiah 59:2], we are brought back in a relationship with God... Apostle Paul declares in Romans 8 that we can now not be separated from God.... Glory to God...

Death and Resurrection: Jesus is struck that I may be healed, He is crucified that I may come into oneness with God, Is there any benefit we attain when He dies and resurrects? There is so much to say about what we [those who have received Christ as Lord and Saviour even those who are yet to] are given but to summarise it all, Peter says in 1 Peter 1:3 - 5 that we have been birthed [begotten] to a new life and to a living hope... no wonder I hear fellow Christians [brothers and sisters] say that they are a new creation the old is gone and new has come [1 Corinthians 5:17]... The new creation comes with lots of other benefits that I cant exhaust now... But in all, the new life comes with total peace, joy, freedom, strength... no worries and stress in this new life....

Celebrate Easter even as you reflect on this truth....

Day's Reflections!
Last night before starting off my journey to sleepland, I reflected on my day - something that I usually do and would recommend to all... In my reflection I did realise the need to study the book of Ecclesiastes for a number of reasons probably not justifiable but known to me... Instantly I reached out to my bible and flipped open to study the first chapter... While studying Solomon's writings on wisdom with eyes fighting to close, I came across a verse that triggered me to think so muchand in as much as I was thinking all my thoughts yielded to "Vanity"... I need your help to help me interrupt this!

Ecclesiastes 1:18
How would you interprete this verse...

New Kings James Version... For in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increase knowledge increases sorrow...
New International Version... For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief...

Our Father's Desire!

Man-to-Man!
We all would want to know what our colleagues or family members or better still our workmates think of us! Depending on their perspective of us which in manytimes contributes to the way they relate to us, we are also inclined to think of them in the same way! More like bad for bad, good for good! I have been questioning myself what God thinks of the little needy children, the world that has fallen short of the grace for awhile. After scratching my head for several days, I was left with only one source for my answers-the bible....

God's Desire and Thoughts for Us!
1. John 3:16 & Isaiah 1:18... He loves us so much not more matter the dirt [sins] that we soak ourselves in, actually He calls us to Himself that He may wash spotless clean

2. 2 peter 3: 8-9 and 2 Timothy 2... Our Father who art in Heaven desires that none of His creation that resides in this world may perish but all may be reunited to Him..

I continue searching the thoughts of the King of all Kings in the scriptures but for now I challenge you in the food for thought

I was sharing with a multitude of youth in a youth service and one of the scriptures that I found and intriguing and just brings you to a life ever flowing with Joy is Romans 8:14 - 17... It gives me such an assurance that am God's own beloved son like Jesus is to Him!

Romans 8:13 - 17...
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are Children, then we are heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Away without notice!

On my way to work yesterday morning, I saw multiples of posters covering up wall fence of a university around Kampala, Uganda. The messages on the posters are interesting mainly students into hitting the "wall of fame" by them just doing their thing on stage in the name of unleashing their talents; the catch phrase on these poster goes "Your fans are waiting... ..."

Meet my Pop Idol!
I want to introduce you to a man that I have looked up to as an encourager, teacher and mentor in my spiritual walk with the Lord Jesus Christ! Well stop guessing and just let me do the honours of introducing him.

He was a church persecutor [Acts 8 - 9], a roman citizen [Acts 22:28] but linguistic [Acts 21:37 & Acts 22:2], called by God and an Apostle of Christ [1 Cor 1:1], a mentor of many [2 Timothy 1:1-2 & Titus 1:4],the list is endless! I guess you know this guy now! Just like Paul once Saul [my pop idol], on the platform I would desire to go mime and rhyme the exact mysteries that he spoke to the colosse church [colossians 1:27], Ephesus church [Ephesians 2:1,4-6] and roman church [Romans 5:1-2].

Hopefully some of the students that are being interested in the "pop idolship" through the posters would be able to do this that Paul did!

Calmness amid a storm!
As I got to discover and understand the paths and lifestyle of my pop idol, I was scared off alittle in my planned escapade of following up in his steps and fitting in his shoes! The scare was what befell him at a later course of the ministry that he was given to. From Acts 19:23 through the last chapters of the acts of apostle, Paul is beaten up, scared to death, spat on, the weather as well was unfavourable [Acts 27:13 -44], he was rioted against [some of the "rioters" didn't even know the reason for the riots, they just joined in Acts 19:32], Paul was hated by many, accused falsely, mention it all. According to today's standards and making an evaluation of what Paul went through, is there any other storm of humilation greater than this in our lives?

In this raising dusty storms that Paul went through, there was one who gave him a peace of mind, He appeared to him in all these persecutions... A small sweet voice of Jesus brought him a calmness and strengthened him to run the race further... [Acts 23:11... While in jail Jesus said to Paul... "Be brave", Acts 27:24... In the stormy weather on the boat trip, an angel said to him... "Paul, dont be afraid" ...

Character Building Vs Suffering!

Whats your take?
Character is built in suffering, right? Shouldn't we then stop suffering to make character shaping progress? Well these statements on suffering are conceptual in one way or the other but I can't justify this profound concept concretely at the moment...

My personal opinion!
As I think through Character building and suffering, am reminded of the teaching on God's grace and Sin by the Apostle Paul that raised a controversial issue that good enough Paul addressed well in Romans 6... Whereas Romans 5:20 mentions that where sin increased, grace increased all the more, Romans 6:1 - 2 commends us not to continue in sin though grace will abound should we continue in our sinful ways! In light to suffering and character building, how about to end the suffering and maybe seek other means of character building!

Am indebted to Compassion International who have reached out to 1 million children in 24 countries around the world ending the suffering these little ones encounter in their lives. I have interacted with some of these children and well hope shines on their faces now that which had so long vanished.

With Eyes yet Blind!

John 9... ...
We serve, have and belong to an amazing God, so divine in all His ways! I came to office this morning after a short and quiet weekend in the country side and a colleague from the Ghana office was sharing with us in the early morning devotions that we normally have as organisation. Opening our bibles we read together from John 9 and he explicitly sliced the chapter of this great gospel into small edible contents that we could consume and meditate on.

Am still wandering why the scribes had so many questions popping up yet the truth lay right before them, the answers to their un-ending questions was in the fact that the blind-man was blind this long that God's work would be displayed in His life... John 9:3... With their own yet they couldn't see!!!

My experience... ...
On my way to the country side, I went singing rock of ages though most of the time I was telling funny but real stories to my friend who I travelled with... I wanted to sing on my return as well but I instead was marvelling in awe at God's work-He is the greatest innovator I have encountered in my life. I wanted to go home and join angels in adoration of Him... ... With this desire I sang in my heart one of the hymns I have heard and sang even when I didn't know the lyrics since I was little... ... my leg was stamping the taxi a.k.a matatu floor and the hymn went on & on....

I will sing the wondrous story
of the Christ who died for me

Sing it with the saints in glory
gathered by the crystal sea!

Rather unfortunate that I interchanged the chorus and words, good enough is that my neighbour didn't know the words as well atleast I would want to presume so... if they did then I will be the joke at their church next Sunday!

On the Roag Again!

I will be travelling to a 45 minutes drive destination away from Kampala city, to a small town called Mityana to have a quiet time away from the busy-ness of the city where car drivers never cease to hoot or race noisily their engines.

As I always to do when riding on the highway... I will go singing to the wonderful creation of God, the trees, swamps, birds, mountains and hills.... Rock of Ages

The Art of Management!

Childhood Management!
Because am sorrounded by children most times, memories of my childhood tend to ring back in my mind at different intervals of my day. Today, I was reminded of the time in my early 10's when my mum would instruct me to make my bed, comb my hair or even organise my room; hesistantly in many cases I would do what would be required of me but days would come when surely I found it difficult to even clean the dirty dishes in the sink.

I do realise now that mum's instructions back then were probably my first lessons in personal management, I dont regret attending these classes though some a real inconvienience to my own TV watching and playing schedules.

Adulthood Management!
Old habits dont easily die, natives in my country like that saying! I wish some old habits would die in this country; on the Ugandan streets paper bags are thrown just beside dustbins and wastes in water drainages. I get an impression were are poor managers in that.

I would want to believe management is not meant for 2 or 5 people in our organisations or companies that are called by Title Managers but rather for all. Definition has it that Management is comprises of Planning, organizing, Directing or Leading and Monitoring.

Successful living has elements of proper management, how often do we think through our monthly expenditures or even the simple resources we do have to our exposure? I commend to the art of Planning, Organising and Monitoring which is Management.

Benefits of Perfect Management Traits!
It is all summed up in Luke 16:10 [also in Mathew 25:21,23 & Luke 19:17]
"He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much"

God's Love!
Come with me as we explore revelations to Paul on God's Love! We shall run through the verses engraved in the letter to the Roman Church.

Romans 8:31 - 39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for Us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:

For your sake, we are killed all day long; we are accounted for the slaughter [Psalm 44:22]

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present not things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord

My Response and Recommendations!
I notice in the passage above one word feeds into another to paint out what manner of Love God has install for each of Us. How do you respond to these great revelation. I would recommend two things

1. 1 John 4:19 "We love Him because He loved us First"
2. Romans 12:10 "Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;" & 1 Thessalonians 4:9 "But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another"

Sniper on the Exodus!

Exodus, huh?
Every time the word "Exodus" is used, my mind is set running to the times of Moses and the Children of Israel more so their movement from Egypt to the promised land. Wonderful story to tell the young and the Old!

Before one start off the exodus/journey to my Country Uganda, you are required to prescribe to antimalarials of some sort which are meant to help prevent Malaria infection incase one accidentally gets a Mosquito bite! Malaria is among the many diseases that has killed and continues to kill so many people in Uganda and I call it a Assassin/Sniper!

Malaria - the Sniper!
Malaria is a vector borne infectious disease caused by protozoan parasites transmitted by a female Anopheles mosquito. Once bitten by a mosquito, there are high chances of being infected by Malaria unless you are on antimalarials. Researchers say malaria has infected humans for over 50,000 years.

In Uganda alone, Ministry of Health publishes statistics that indicate that 2.7 Million cases of Malaria infection were recorded in 1999 while worldwide it is mentioned that 1 - 3 million people die due to untreated malaria. Not so many people in Uganda especially in those in remote/rural areas would actually know malaria symptoms and signs [fever, shivering, joint pain, vomiting and convulsions].

Prevention and Treatment methods have been put in place by the Government but statistics from UNICEF indicate that only a few people can access preventative methods; only 7% of children under 5 years sleep under mosquito net and non of these little sleeps under a treated mosquito net. The little ones are the most vulnerable of all people and many have died at one shoot from this sniper [Malaria].

Bravo Compassion!
Committed to the protection and care of the children, Compassion has not only given Children and their parents the joy of having children sponsored but this organization has also intervened in the provision of Mosquito nets to the children to prevent the spread of the pandemic but more so to ensure that these lovely children live to see their dreams come to pass without the sniper coming in the way!

Weekend Scenes!

Friday Morning
Vibrations of my phone ringing woke me up from my deep sleep last friday morning and in mind I was wondering who was calling at 2:30am. After a huge struggle to trying to openning my eyes, I checked my phone only to realise it was my cousin calling telling me I have to try on the phone for his sister who was feeling unwell. I got to find out it was Malaria affecting her terribly that it was affecting her brains. Malaria has really written off lives of many people here in Uganda, I will give us statistics later on this week.

Up and Down Saturday!
I was visiting my cousin's sister and all day we prayed for her, family friends and relatives by passed by to support my cousins. From my cousin's sister I went to figure out a solitary place that we could have the Alpha Sunday at! At the end of the day, I wanted to fall on my bed and just pass out! Ever heard such days in your life, I need some advice on how I should handle them.

Alpha Sunday!
Still exhausted from Saturday's movements, I pulled my blankets upwards to cover my head at 7am forgetting I was meant to meet up with the Youth from church for what turned up to be a wonderful experience in learning the Word of God and experience Him through His Spirit. [Was I out of my mind or I had forgotten what Proverbs 6:10 - 11 says, "Alittle sleep, Alittle Slumber, Alittle folding of hands to sleep; so shall poverty "]

On Sunday morning alongside 132 students from my Home Church took our sunday service to a more solitary place away from any noise or disruptions. We had a morning sessions on What does the Holy Spirit Do and an afternoon session on How to be filled with the Holy Spirit; Alpha course covers these topics in depth.

We wrapped up our day with a prayer session which had interludes of worship songs and well am still in awe of how God through His Spirit can manifest to His beloved. The students were yearning for God and there He was, some shouted in tongues of angels, others fell on their knees, others cried while others stood and watched their fellas. It was awesome! Am stil in awe.

With all the friday - Sunday events I wanted to take a day off but well I couldnt, I just had to come to work. Hopefully I will be fresh enough to post a beautiful and non-personal blog tommorrow.

On that Bed!

In gloom and tears I sat on my bed, knowing not what to do but thinking so hard and wishing I could turn back the clock! I didnt have any hope or anyone to turn to because no indicator around me showed there was a way through.

After several trials in all places for a couple of years, Joy and Peace finally became my possession when I found out and got enrolled in an International Sponsorship Program. I can now stand on my own, support my family and enjoy a christian life because I have been equipped to by this Program.

Testimony enough!

In my interactions with children who have been supported by Compassion International, such stories are told and how I beat and blame myself for not being there before they shed those many tears, before they got to that point of hopelessness! We can make a difference in many of the children's by reaching out to them, I urge you. I recommend it, Sponsor-a-child

Dont doubt that I never attended Mathematics and English lessons when I was in High school or College by the fact that I cant distinguish between Formulaes and Formulas. I did and I was many of my Tutors' favourite because I understood formulas as they were explained to me.

In Suprise or Suspense!
Am still amused by how what we cover our bodies with is manufactured. In my Country Uganda, clothes are majorly from cotton which is grown naturally and then threads are joined up together to make one cloth that then is tailored into a shirt or trouser.

The African Way!
We have gone ahead to forest trees, all in search of cloth material. Bark cloth which is extracted from forest trees[see attached photo] is so common here in Uganda but the victims of this have been forests. It is stylish not to wear the common silky stuff but its hazardous to have a dessertified country, what is your take? Forests going down for the sake of style or something?

Childhood Traits!

I grew up in a family where I was told to always show up at Church on Sunday or else something really bad happens to me.To always pray before eating or else.... To always pray before sleeping or else I get the worst nightmare overnight. I actually thought that was christianity. I didnt know there was a better way of learning about Christianity...

Adulthood Traits!

Many of us are scared to christianity, do you still remember that sermon that led to the confession of your sins. I know of a friend who was scared to Jesus, they were reminded of the burning sulphur that waits them in hell and just in case they didnt confess Christ that night they would definitely run in a truck as they walked out of church to their home. In a blick of an eye they would be at this "flames of hell" destination.

How about you try out this!

Handling Worries and Anxiety!

What happened at Church Yesterday
Am glad I went to church yesterday, it all started with an awesome session of praise and worship where angelic voices of my churchmates from one side of the church to the other echoed in our rectangular shaped church. After a 2 minute silent break, we interceeded and prayed for our country's and individual needs; my church being an modernised anglican, we couldnt miss out the first [old testament] and Second [new testament] readings.

First Reading: Jeremiah 17:5-14
Second Reading: 1 Peter 5:1-11

The Sermon: Handling Worries and Anxiety
I will tell it as it was taught me. What is Worry, Worrying, Worries? Worries or Worrying is living in doubt of God's word and His promises, Worry is faithlessness and hopelessness. As you manage worry, you need to understand that you are dealing with doubt, faithlessness and hopelessness, that should be your starting point.

I thank my people for handling the worries of many children scattered around this world.

Visions and Goals, What is the Difference?
Lets admit not so many of us can actually differentiate between the key words. Let try my best to make a distinctive difference between the three words.

Where as a goal or objective consists of a projected state of affairs which a person or a system plans or intends to achieve or bring about, a Vision occurs to be long-term goal of strategy.

One thing I want to point out is that achieving complex and difficult goals requires focus, long-term diligence and effort.If I had known God's will at an earlier age, His goals and Visions for my life, I should declare this that I would not have started from where I did! Ponder on this question and look around yourself to find out if you are where you are meant to be.

Find out God's Will for You! Once you do, trust me you will live in total liberty

Lets Celebrate!
I thought I may celebrate with you in the glad tidings! Heather, my girlfriend has started up a new women's ministry with her friend! Am so glad that we still have bible characters like Deborah [as in Judges], Lydia [as in Acts] and Mary Magadelene [as in the Gospels].

What still intrigues is the name! Pray, Share and Pizza?! Sounds fun and a go for it Meeting.

The ministry will target people in teenage years, school leavers or university students to help encourage them and build them up and it will be held 6 times in a year, beginning of university semesters, mid of the semester and end of the semester. It shall be a prayer based minstry but also with some bible sharing....along with some food...

Have you thought about initiating a ministry around your neighbourhood or maybe at your workplace or at Cafe where you have your variety cappucino [I have a story to tell about a ministry that was initiated from the Restaurant], I think you have potential to address the tiny Issues that your agemates or workmates are challenged with. Go for it! Or maybe the word Ministry sounds huge and an arrangement that would need training up for. Well I will break it down to reaching out and my question will still stands, are you reaching out?

From the comments one of us asked if I could share my own personal testimony in as far as Child Development is concerned. I guess I will just do that!

My Life!

We possibly all identify with the fact that exposing your own life makes you abit nervous to the bones. But I thank God for the confidence I have in doing this. Hopefully this will give a big push to all of us in as far as parenting and reaching out to children is concerned.

I was born on 29th April 1985 in the days when civil wars in my country were at their climax but I survived and ran over the huddles of military gunmen. Soon after my birth, Uganda was at peace, my sincere gratitude to the current ruling party. So much devastation sorrounded me, my family and the country.

I should mention that the current face of Uganda depicts the big reconstruction and development the country has tasted.

I dont know if what had happened to my country back then [disintegration] ended up happening to me as well!I give yes for an answer on that. What I remember is Dad had left me and mum alone. It felt so lonely and insecure without Dad around! Mum was solely responsible for me, she had to provide for my upkeep, my education bills, my clothings and all that I needed. She could afford paying the bill but how many Mothers in my country can afford this? Not all, actually most are uneducated without any income generationg work!

In Uganda, many children are diastered by sometimes both parents, in some instances children loose their parents to HIV/AIDS or Malaria. We have families that are headed by children! Dad is gone, Mum is gone as well! Who do they look to?

Good News!

The good news is that Christ Jesus knows the children's needs and knows the ability and potential each of us has to make a difference in the lives of children. My Country, Lets Talk Statistics!

I live a country located in East Africa [Uganda] which has a total population of 30.4 Million people and am so proud of my country's diversity in language dialects and culture. Imagine a nation with as many languages as nearly 23 different language, communication among the dialects would be so complex but we are in one harmony and consistently we understand each other.

In 2005, the total population of Ugandans under 18 years and of those under 5 years was approximately 16,539,000 and 5,970,000 respectively [Statistics from UNICEF] though according to the forecasts there is an immerse increase in the figures. From these facts, I would assume you have a glimpse of what you could possibly see on many streets of the country's towns and cities, Multitudes of Youth!

In as much as I would rejoice and merry in my beautiful Country Uganda, a deeper digging of statistics crowds tears in my eyes, not tears of joy but of sorrow. We are burdened by two epidemics that have seen many lose loved ones, HIV/AIDS and Malaria! Poverty meanders from community to community, village to village, home to home.

My country's conditions and what has been prevailing for the last years have left the children endangered and vulnerable because in many ways they are affected directly. To wrap all up, atleast heard and witnessed from Daily News flash of incidences where Children are being married off at a tender age, many are under child labour, several are abused physically, emotionally and multitudes are unable to go to school. Much as many people and organisations have established to advocate and protect children, still many have not yet been reached.

What a Creator!
Wow, Wow....
An awesome creator Our God is! Last weekend a couple of my American friends and I were on a safari trip in the North Eastern parts of Uganda in Murchison Falls National Park. Well what we saw was so incredible and unbelievable and am still amazed at what God's mighty hand is capable of! The twisting and revolving currents of water falls,the Hippopotamus, Lions, antelopes, Crocodiles, Kobs and Jackson Hatbeasts.... Awesome Wonderful and Good He is, the Majestic God of all!

The Creator of Me!
After having such a breath taking experience at the Park, back to the City we were and here while am processing all the scenarios am put to a stand still to scrutinize God's Hand on Me, on His people Hes dearly. This runs directly through my mind, we have been created wonderfully and fearfully in His Image [Genesis 1 & Psalm 139] and soon or later we shall be just like Him [1 John 3]. In His creation of me, He proportions all things together.

Nose, Eye, Legs, Hands, each with its Use! Aint we meant to use each of these body parts accordingly, Nose for Breathing, Ear for Hearing, Eye for Seeing. The question for debate still hangs unanswered, what am I meant to see or hear and what am I meant not to.

How did your first feel?
How did it feel on your very first day at High school? How did it feel on your first day on your first job ever [I wont mention nothing on the panel of interviewers that you faced on the interview]? How did it feel on your first date with your very first girlfriend or boyfriend?How did it feel on your first encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ?

I personally don't know how I feel about my first blog, I obviously feel but earnestly and honestly, I cant describe it!

Am sure I have an audience that have no idea what blogging is, it is a whole new thing to them as it was to me a few weeks back before I met up with a team of 16 wonderful US friends [I would want to say they!] who are major bloggers in the states they live in back in USA. Maybe someone out there should tell my audience what blogging is all about, am still in awe of this new thing and it is hard to explain.

I have not yet figured out how to approach my blogging antiques and what to post but definitely. I have something in mind and in plan though. For starters, I will posting on issues that concern the Youth, Child Advocacy Articles, Biblical Teachings on different key issues that affect our day-to-day lives.

Am excited about this and look forward to posting my next blog and obviously to my first comments about my blog, oh you could include your suggestions on what should be included on this blog. It takes a team you know that.
